MCKENNA RECREATION
CAMP INFORMATION
· Camp Hours: Camp hours are 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The gym doors will not be opened until dismissal time. Please be prompt when picking up your child. No camper will be released to another family member or adult without prior signed consent.
· Dismissal: Please pick up your child from Summer Recreation promptly at 3:00 PM by the Roosevelt Avenue Parking Lot. Please be patient during dismissal time. This time is extremely important for all children because they are listening to important information regarding trips, camp events, group events and camp information. In addition, we cannot release campers between 2:45 and 3:00 due to supervision. We ask that you pick up your child prior to 2:45 or wait patiently until dismissal at 3:00. Please be ready to show proper identification in the office if you pick your child up early.
· Pick-Up, Drop-Off & Lunch Dismissal: You will be expected to provide proper identification at the Summer Recreation Front Desk every time you pick up your child for lunch or early dismissal. Parents/guardians must sign their child in/out of the front desk when they have arrived late (after 9:15 AM) or are leaving early. No child will be released to anyone who is not listed on the camper's registration form. There will be no exceptions to this policy.
· Lunch: All campers eat lunch at McKenna from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM. Please send your child to camp with a nutritious lunch and water bottle every morning. Please label your child’s water bottle and lunch box. No campers will be permitted to leave the grounds for lunch unless picked up by a parent/guardian. Your child will be permitted to use the office phone if he/she needs lunch to be dropped off.
· Attire: It is highly suggested that your child wear sneakers at all times during recreation to ensure their safety and prevent injury. No child will be allowed to participate in physical activities without proper footwear. Please be aware that our staff is not permitted to apply sunscreen. Campers should apply sunscreen prior to camp. Please make every attempt to have your child wear their Summer Rec T-shirt on days they will be attending field trips.
· Trips/Special Activities: Please return all permission slips and fees (Cash Only) in an envelope labeled with your child’s name and group to the office prior to the due date provided. All permission slips/fees are due the day prior to the event (unless specified otherwise). There will be no exceptions to this policy.
·
Special Events: McKenna Summer Recreation will have special events every Friday during the program. We encourage all campers to participate in each week's theme. Each group will also have their own special event during the week. Campers will be notified in advance by their counselors. In addition, there will be an Ice Pop Fundraiser every day to help with the cost of our carnival. Ice pops will be sold for 25 cents each at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
· Cell Phones, Electronic Devices & Trading Cards: Cell phones, electronic devices (ex. iPod, Game Boy), and trading cards will not be permitted during camp hours. The camp is not responsible for any devices that are misplaced or damaged. If you need to contact your child, please call the McKenna Summer Recreation Office at (516)-308-5531.
We look forward to an extremely safe and enjoyable summer with your child. Please do not hesitate to contact our Director, Mr. Lamberg, our Arts & Crafts Director, Ms. McCool, or our Assistant Director, Mr. Gould with any questions or concerns.
